A Practical Approach to Directing Actors

Utilizing the Practical Aesthetics Technique developed at NYC’s Critically Acclaimed Atlantic Theater Company, this class teaches you how to engage your actors with active language. From script analysis preparation to on set terminology: how to stay present and achieve the results you desire.  Learn how to become an 'actors' director' and not lose sight of your vision.  


Taught by director and actor Maggie Kiley. Maggie is one of 40 ensemble members of the Atlantic Theater Company which was founded by playwright David Mamet and actor William H Macy, an alum of AFI's Directing Workshop for Women and one of the Fox Directing Fellows.  Her short film SOME BOYS DON'T LEAVE garnered awards at Tribeca and Palm Springs and was latered developed into the feature BRIGHTEST STAR (Panavision New Filmmaker Grant) which was released by Gravitas in 2014.  Maggie also wrote and directed the feature DIAL A PRAYER which stars Brittany Snow, William H Macy and Glenne Headly and was released via Vertical earlier this year.  Her latest film, CAUGHT, starring Anna Camp and Stefanie Scott world premiered at the 2015 Los Angeles Film Festival as one of just 8 films in competition in the all new Nightfall category.
