Ask Me Anything (AMA) with literary manager Allard Cantor from Epicenter
Ever wanted to pick the brain of a high level manager? Want to know the real answers to those questions you can't seem to ask your own rep? Here's your chance!!
I'm hosting a serious brain-picking session with manager Allard Cantor of the esteemed literary management company, Epicenter, whose clients are with CAA, APA, Gersh, WME, and working with powerhouses like Blumhouse and Emma Stone.
It's a Reddit-style AMA: I'll have a list of questions and I'd love you to send me yours in advance too. Allard has promised to dive deep into topics that are most influential to the success of his company's clients. This will be a highly insightful night for actors, directors, writers and people interested in repping those artists too.
More on Allard and Epicenter:
New York City born, New Jersey bred, and University of Wisconsin educated, Allard Cantor started life as an envelope salesman in Manhattan before choosing to follow his passion for film and moving to LA. He attended the American Film Institute, graduating from their prestigious producing program while discovering an aptitude for helping writers develop their material—a skill which, combined with his years of sales experience, led to an organic shift into management. After a period of working as an independent producer, Allard began taking on clients from his projects.
In 2012, Allard met Jarrod Murray, and EPICENTER was born. Beginning with a handful of talented and diverse clients, Epicenter is proud to be a premiere home of excellent character-and-voice-driven material for all genres and audiences and most recently celebrated its 5th anniversary of burgeoning business. Specializing in find new talent and honing raw, unheard voices, Epicenter helped break clients on various television staffs including ONCE UPON A TIME, THE STRAIN, MARS, PREACHER, Beau Willimon’s THE FIRST, and Damon LIndelof’s WATCHMEN. Clients have also sold projects to Dreamworks, TBS, USA, CW, CBS, Fox, ABC Family, Fremantle, Netflix, Amazon, and Nickelodeon. Epicenter’s most recent success stories include selling an original pilot to FX (with Ryan Murphy executive producing), two network pilots sold this development season, a feature spec sold to Sony in a competitive situation, and two clients landing three picture deals at major studios.
Allard and Jarrod are currently executive producing A LETTER FROM ROSEMARY KENNEDY (with producers David Goyer, Kevin Turen, Jason Berman), TO FRED HAMPTON (with producers Casey Afleck and Shaka King) and an indie thriller poised to go into production this December.
