Anti-Workshop with CDs Meg Morman & Sunny Boling
An alternative to the drama of the pay-to-play workshop world! In this relaxed evening of open conversation, host and working actor Ally Iseman will interview the casting duo of Morman Boling Casting on their experiences as casting directors over the past few years in LA. The goal of the evening is to enlighten actors to the internal workings of the casting process, to breakdown the heirarchy we create in our minds about this process and to focus more on what we can do that will actually make a difference "in the room."
About Meg & Sunny:
Meg Morman and Sunday "Sunny" Boling met in the Feature Casting office of 20th Century Fox, working on a variety of films, including Ice Age, Dude, Where’s My Car?, From Hell, One Hour Photo, Unfaithful, Behind Enemy Lines and Big Momma’s House. They opened their own shingle in late 2004.
Credits include the award winning films Hello, My Name is Doris (starring Sally Field, Max Greenfield, Stephen Root, Tyne Daly), Natural Selection (starring Rachael Harris, Matt O’Leary and Jon Gries), I Believe in Unicorns (starring Peter Vack and Natalia Dyer), Take Me Home (starring Sam Jaeger, Victor Garber and Lin Shaye), Dear Lemon Lima (starring Melissa Leo, Beth Grant, Elaine Hendrix, Meaghan Jette Martin and Vanessa Marano), Magic Valley (starring Scott Glenn, Kyle Gallner, Alison Elliott, Brad William Henke, Johnny Lewis and Will Estes), and Mississippi Damned (starring Malcolm Goodwin, Tessa Thompson, DB Woodside and Malcolm David Kelley). Meg and Sunny also cast the hugely successful feature Waitress (starring Keri Russell, Nathan Fillion, Jeremy Sisto, Cheryl Hines and Andy Griffith), which premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. In addition, Steal Me and Me & You & Everyone We Know were both official selections of the 2005 Sundance Film Festival; Me & You & Everyone We Know also went on to win the Special Jury Prize for Originality of Vision as well as the Golden Camera Award at Cannes.
Both ladies are proud members of the Casting Society of America.
Meg and Sunny serve as the Casting Consultants for the Film Independent's Directing Lab.
We'll hear about specific instances from their separate and shared experiences that shape how they see the casting process "from the other side of the table." We'll talk topics like star meter, drop offs, agent pitches, workshops and more. Plan to give your personal "elevator pitch" or log line and get feedback on your current headshot options if we have time. A few days before the event, Ally will take questions from the attendees to help guide the night to be most insightful for everyone. One thing we will NOT do is cold reads or prepared reads or sides of any kind! We're all approaching this evening as potential collaborators who are coming together to hear about an individual's experiences in casting offices and take away what works for each of us.
