Pitching on & Listening to the Feature Film Open Director Assignment

This class will be co-taught by myself, Jen McGowan (Director, KELLY & CAL) and Naia Cucukov, currently VP of Development & Production at Walden (previously at Virgin, previously at Bold).

Jen has pitched on ODA projects at companies such as CBS Films, Bad Robot, Paramount Vantage, Lifetime, Gary Sanchez, among others.

Naia has heard hundreds of pitches from writers and directors and has overseen projects to their fruition such as EVEREST and the upcoming BFG. It was recently announced in Deadline that Walden will develop Nate Parker’s next feature project.

We will cover scheduling, preparation, research, pitch materials and treatments, what it means to be “good in the room”, etc.  The goal is to have an open discussion about any and all parts of the pitching process specific to open director assignments on feature films.  Note: we will not be focusing on television, documentary or other types of pitching.

We will tailor the discusson to those in attendance with the goal of improving the ODA pitching experience on both sides of the table.

This class is most appropriate for current directors looking to hone their pitching and executives eager to understand the directors process and help directors help them say “yes” faster.

Please bring questions and drinks to share.  Snacks will be provided.
